First ever?! I was for a while a cleaner – I had to vacuum floors and clean toilets in a big office.

My first “real” job (that is, the one doing what I wanted to do) was at a place called SES-ASTRA in Luxembourg. That is a company that manages a lot of communications satellites. In fact, most of the TV you get from the satellite dish you see on houses was sent up into space from this place I worked! To do this they need lots of much bigger satellite dishes of their own to send the signal, like this:

I worked there for three months in my summer holidays after my first year of university!

After university, my first job was as a computer engineer in a London bank – nothing to do with space at all 🙁

I worked when I was a teenager- paper rounds, babysitting and waitressing. One year at uni in the summer I worked in a chilled warehouse- 1degree inside! I also then managed to get some laboratory work. After uni, this was my first and only full tune job!
