None of my missions have launched yet (2 will in 2016), so that will be my greatest achievement. But, I am always having little ‘wins’ with things that keep me motivated. Seeing EarthCARE and BepiColombo delivered from the UK last year were super exciting events for me as they were the culmination of many years work – they are now elsewhere in Europe having more components added to them. Sometimes it is completing a small design that then makes it onto the spacecraft. But, engineering is not just at work – building a greenhouse, or designing a house extension all are part of my engineering successes!

Definitely working on a space instrument from start (proposal) to finish, getting the data back from orbit around the Moon. I helped with testing the components in our lab, calibrating the instrument at a lab in America called the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and working with the engineers there. Then I got to see it launch and I’m helping to analyse the data.

The other thing I do is teach, so I get a pretty good sense of achievement from this.
