I suppose I never really had a job in mind during school or even university, as I didn’t really know what my options were. Only once I did my masters degree did I realise that I could use the knowledge I was gaining in an actual job! I actually enjoy my job much more than I enjoyed university – some things at uni were really fun, like building water rockets, but at work, I get to build things for real, and people respect my advice and opinions. Plus, there are no exams! I do find that the working day goes quickly, perhaps because I always have a lot to do. I do spend my time between my desk and talking to people, so I like that balance.

My job is pretty much what I expected, but the job I’m doing now wasn’t the first one I had after university, so I kind of knew what I was getting into.
