Jealous isn’t really the right word, but it would have been cool to be an engineer before we know what we do now, making groundbreaking discoveries at every step, like the first cars, or space ships. Right now, Elon Musk is a great inspiration to me, as he has a vision and is taking steps to make it a reality! The other two who come to mind are Wernher Von Braun (Wikipedia says he was a Rocket Engineer and a Space Architect, what cool titles!) and Nikola Tesla, because so many of his ideas were so far before his time.

I’m inspired by the engineers on the Apollo program, they were set one of the greatest challenges in engineering and managed to succeed.
But I’m also inspired by their Russian counterparts who pioneered every step before them, and also sent two cool robots to the Moon.
Those were some great times and showed what engineers can do when politics or funding is not in the way. On the other hand they were quite risky projects, we can do things much safer now.

Inspired! And am inspired by lots of people I work with. I would not like to reinvent the wheel and start from scratch – we are lucky that all these great people got us to where we are and we can progress from there.
