Most engineers are well paid. Because my workplace is part of STFC (government) my salary is somewhat less than what it would in an industry position. However in return the job is challenging, exciting and always pushing the boundaries of science and you get to travel to interesting places, and meet the best engineers and scientist in the world. So yes, I’m happy 🙂

Yes, I am. Where I work, we have enough money to do the things we want in our free time, plus we are working on interesting things. I am in a large company, so there are lots of opportunities – I spent 3 months living in South France working at a different site which was all paid for and was a fantastic experience.

Yep, mainly because I have a job (many friends of mine haven’t found work yet) and I am able to live on it and save a little. On the other hand, I have friends working in the oil & gas industry who are paid more than I am, however I get to work in the space industry which to me is a far more exciting place (even if it is less profitable than other industries)

Well, I get to build and design interesting stuff and work with really interesting people and still have enough money to do other things I like, so I’m pretty happy with my wages! I could get paid more in other jobs, but as part of my work I have seen and done things that continue to surprise and amaze me.

I am, yes. Engineering salaries are generally good. More importantly, they are fairly stable: engineers are always in demand everywhere in the world! I have enough money to do what I want in life. Not more, but that’s not needed 🙂
