Hmm, hard to say! My current job I would say has more paperwork than expected, but that the quality of life has been higher as there isn’t so much stress as my last job and the work-life balance is great.

However, it’s hard for me to compare to my expectations when I was 15, as I can’t really remember them 😀 Maybe I didn’t realise how much of the work is done in teams as opposed to individually. Broadly, though, engineering is kind of how I thought it would be.

My job is pretty much what I expected, but in my particular case I have quite a lot of freedom to explore new ideas. I had worked in a couple of different jobs before the one I had now, so I had a good idea of what to expect.

I think my job is always surprising me, the more I do I surprise myself too. It is often that I don’t realise how much I’ve learnt until I’m teaching more junior people or I can talk to students. The actual job is different as I didn’t know what to expect- if anything it is better (I enjoy it much more than university!)
